What is The Boys’ Brigade?

Perhaps now more than ever before the influences surrounding boys are not always helpful – and many lose control at great cost to themselves, their families and the community. The answer is to catch the energy and enthusiasm of youth and to channel it purposefully. Founded by Sir William Alexander Smith, The Boys’ Brigade has been around for over 125 years. Each week The Boys' Brigade provides a balanced programme of activities for over 60,000 children and young people in the UK & Republic of Ireland.

The object of The Boys’ Brigade has remained unchanged since it was founded: "The advancement of Christ's kingdom among Boys and the promotion of habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline, Self-respect and all that tends towards a true Christian manliness." The Boys’ Brigade motto “Sure & Steadfast” is taken from the Bible, the book of Hebrews, chapter 6, verse 19.
